I met Dave Wood in 2014 when he opened Fairview Guitar And Repair in a small house on the east end of Fairview. In 2019, he moved to a commercial space shared by the Fairview Arts Council. In early 2020 while in the process of buying a Gibson Les Paul Tribute he had for sale, talk of the COVID 19 pandemic turned to questions of the future, and eventually a mention of retiring. I offered to take over the business, and after some details worked out, sealed the deal with a handshake (actually a fist bump).
I grew up musically with an acoustic guitar, then very quickly gravitated to an electric guitar with a loud amp! To cover all my bases, I stock my store with beginner and pro examples of acoustic, electric, and classical guitars. Basses too... (I think I just missed the opportunity for a good pun.) Let‘s not forget amplifiers and effects pedals. There are also strings, cases, cables, and so much more!
I remember going to music stores as a kid, and dreaming of being in the spotlight while playing a cool guitar that was hung up out of my reach both physically and financially. I started at the bottom, and slowly worked my way up until I could play pretty much whatever I wanted (within reason, of course!) I want to provide that opportunity to new players as well as seasoned pros, so they can reach whatever goals they set for themselves. I enjoy hearing stories about learning, performing, writing, and anything that has to do with music and gear. Come in, pull up a chair, let’s make some music.
